Chris Pine as James T. Kirk, so handsome!! 

Kapoh insider A's juicy scoop on Chris Pine:

"Pine described his 1st audition as awful , 'cos he couldn't take himself as a leader. Abrams did not see Pine's 1st audition, and it was only after Pine's agent met Abrams' wife that the director decided to give him another audition opposite Quinto. Quinto was supportive of Pine's casting 'cos they knew each other as they worked out at the same gym . After getting the part, Pine sent William Shatner [acted as James T. Kirk in the old original Star Trek series] a letter and received a reply containing the original Kirk's approval. Pine watched classic episodes & read encyclopedias   abt Star Trek Universe, but stopped as he felt weighed down by feeling he had to "copy" Shatner. Pine felt he had to show Kirk's humor, arrogance & decisiveness", but not Shatner's speech pattern, which would have bordererd on imitation. Pine said when watching the original series, he was also struck by how would Shatner's performance was characterized by humor. Instead, Pine chose to incorporate elements of Tom Cruise from Top Gun and Harrison Ford's protrayals of Indiana Jones and Han Solo."

Eunice: "Well all i can say is Chris is totally serious in his role and can see that he really put in alot of effort.. So this another reason why i wanna watch Star Trek badly.. "

Zachary Quinto as Spock, my idol in Heroes

 

Kapoh insider B's juicy scoop on Zachary Quinto:

" Quinto pursued the role as he was interested in the duality of Spock's half-human Vulcan heritage, and how "he constantly exploring the notion of how to evolve in a responsible way and how to evolve in a respectful way. I think those are all things that we as a society, and certainly the world, could implement.". For the audition, he wore a blue shirt and flattened his hair down to feel more like Spock . He bound his fingers to practice the Vulcan salute, shaved his eyebrows and grew and dyed his hair for the role. He conveyed many of Spock's attributes, such as his stillness and the way Leonard Nimoy [acted as Spock in the original Star Trek series] would hold his hand behind his back. Quinto commented the physical transformation aided in portraying an alien, joking "I felt like a nerd. I felt like I was 12 again. You look back at those pictures and you see the "bowl cut" . There's no question I was born to play Spock role. I was sporting that look for a good 4 or 5 yrs." Adrien Brody had discussed playing the role with the director before Quinto was cast."

Eunice: "Hmm.. I can swear he is really my idol~!! God! I really look forward how he well played his role as Spock, one of my fave characters in Star Trek."

Leonard Nimoy as "old" Spock

"Nimoy reprises his role as the old Spock, who has come from the future to provide help. Nimoy befriended Quinto after cast in the role. Although Quinto watched some episodes of the show during breaks in filming, Nimoy was his main resource in playing Spock. Abrams & the writers met Nimoy at his house; Orci recalled the actor gave a " 'Who are you guys and what are you up to?' vibe" before being told how important he was to them. He was silent, and Nimoy's wife Susan Bay told the creative team he had remained in his chair after their conversation, emotionally overwhelmed by his decision after turning down many opportunities to revisit the role. Had Nimoy disliked the script, production would have been delayed for it to be rewritten. He was "genuinely excited" by the script's scope and its detailing of the characters' backstories, saying, "We have dealt with [Spock being half-human, half-Vulcan], but never with quite the overview that this script has of the entire history of the character, the growth of the character, the beginnings of the character and the arrival of the character into the Enterprise crew." Abrams sait "It was surreal to direct him as Spock, because what the hell am I doing there? This guy has been doing it for 40 years. It's like 'Spock would...'". "

Eunice: "Hmm.. so i guess non-Trek fans will fully understand what Star Trek is about since the script have all characters' backstories, even though if you didn't watch it before.. & I think Nimoy himself is no.1 fan of Star Trek.. 'Cos when i googled his pic, is like almost pic he's doing the Vulcan salute.. LOL~!!!"

Eric Bana as Nero, sexy hot villian :drool:

" Nero, the film's time-travelling Romulan villain. Part of his past involves escaping from the Klingon prison Rura Penthe. Bana shot his scenes toward the end of filming. He was "a huge Trekkie when he was a kid",
but had not seen many of the films. Even if he were "crazy about the original series" , he wouldn't have accepted the role unless he liked the script, which he deemed "awesome" once he read it. Bana knew Abrams because they coincidentally shared the same agent. Bana improvised the character's speech patterns."

Eunice: "Oooo.. I think we both matched perfectly cos we are huge Trekkie fan~!! Don't u think so huh, Eric? heee.. "

Zoe Saldana as Uhura, actually i dun really know who she is

"Abrams had liked her work and requested that she play the role. Saldana never saw the original series, but agreed to play the role after Abrams had complimented her. "For an actor, that's all you need, that's all you want. To get the acknowledgment and respect from your peers." she said. She met with Nichelle Nichols, who explained to her how she had created Uhura's background, and also named the character. Saldana's mother was a Star Trek fan and sent her voice mails during filming, giving advice on the part. Sydney Tamiia Poitier also auditioned for the part."

Eunice: "I seriously dunno which movies she acted in before.. Well, since Abrams complimented her until so wonderful.. I shall open my eyes big big & see her performance."

John Cho as Hikaru Sulu, my fave asian comedian actor in Hollywood

Kapoh insider B's juicy scoop on John Cho:

"Abrams was concerned about casting a Korean-American as a Japanese-American character, but George Takei [acted as Hikaru Sulu in the original Star Trek series] explained to the director that Sulu was meant to represent all of Asia on the Enterprise, so Abrams went ahead with Cho. Cho acknowledged being an Asian-American, "There are certain acting roles that you are never going to get, and one of them is playing cowboy. [Playing Sulu] is a realization of that dream -- going into space." He cited the masculinity of the character as being important to him, and spent 2 weeks fight training. Cho suffered an injury to his wrist during filming, although a representative assured it was "no big deal". James Kyson Lee, a Japanese-American, was interested in the part, but because Quinto was cast as Spock, the producers of the TV show Heroes did not want to lose another cast member for 3 months."

Eunice: "I think John is more suitable for the role than James cos he is way CUTER~!! lol.. This is a movie not a drama serial so muz put all cute actors in it ok!! Dun believe ar.. Check out the pic below then.. He look like he's from China (sorry, no offence!!)."

Lastly, Majel Barrett Roddenberry as Voice of Computer. Hey.. I think its a really important role ok!!

Googled facts abt Majel Barrett Roddenberry:

Majel Barrett Roddenberry, who died on December 18 2008 aged 76, was known as the "First Lady of Star Trek", supplying the voice of the computer on board the US Starship Enterprise and subsequently marrying the show's creator, Gene Roddenberry.

As the enigmatic unnamed first officer known as Number One in Star Trek's pilot episode, she upset executives at NBC Television, who insisted that Roddenberry should give the role to a man. She once joked that, given the choice between keeping Mr Spock (whom the network also hated) or the woman character, Roddenberry "kept the Vulcan and married the woman [because] he didn't think Leonard [Nimoy] would have it the other way around".

In subsequent episodes of Star Trek Majel Barrett (as she then was) played Nurse Christine Chapel, known for her unrequited affection for the emotionless Spock. "I never particularly cared for Christine," she noted, explaining that her "wishy-washy" character had fallen for someone "who only comes into heat once every seven years. Let's face it," she added, "this broad's a real loser." 

And Majel also voiced the computer of the various starships used throughout all of the TV shows and movies from the sci-fi franchise — Less than 10 days before her death, on December 9, 2008, Roddenberry Productions announced that she would be providing the voice of the ship's computer once again, this time for the 2009 motion picture relaunch  of Star Trek. Sean Rossall, a Roddenberry family spokesman, stated that she had already completed the voiceover work, approximately December 4, 2008.

Eunice: "See.. Now you know why I say she is important, huh? I can't wait to hear her voice as the computer as I know I'll never hear that voice again in any future Star Trek film. Sobs.. "
